Ekphrastic extravaganza
With renowned artist Linda Ekstrom, in front of her piece, "Your One True Home." I was invited by Santa Barbara Poet Laureate George Yatchisin to write a poem about one of the pieces in the Textual Integration show at the Rubenstein Chan contemporary art gallery in Carpenteria, and present it at an evening event at the gallery. What's not to love? All the poems in this anthology, A Feast For Santa Barbara: Poets Celebrate Food and Drink, edited by SB Poet Laureate George Yatchisin (Gunpowder Press, 2026) explore the edible aspects of Santa Barbara County, with sections like "market," "ritual," "ingredients," and "labor," the last of which is where my poem, "Harvesting History," appears. Erasure Poems in Heron Tree
Heron Tree published two erasure poems I sent in response to their prompt of using the number 12 in some way for the twelfth issue, in found poetry using pre-1929 sources. What a fun prompt! They included my explanation of how I created these poems. I really enjoyed the process of finding these poems within the text of Louisa May Alcott's novel, Eight Cousins .
