Imagine my surprise and delight when my 7 year-old opened her Epic app and shouted out, "Lucy in the City is Book of the Week!" Awesome choice, Epic editors -- thank you! (Photo is a screenshot of the home page)
I have to give Epic a hefty dose of credit for helping my daughter learn to read. She was in kindergarten in 2020, and needless to say Zoom school did not get off to a great start (for either of us). Epic was one thing that she loved, though, and she'd follow along, story after story, watching the words get highlighted as she listened to the audio. Like a lot of kids that year, mine logged a lot of extra pandemic screen time, but the fact that her reading skills went through the roof assuaged some of my guilt. (And really, I've let the rest of that guilt go, because pandemic.)
